The Chris “Loops” Seikaly Music and Arts Program at The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai
-
The Herman & Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai has partnered with Loops Foundation in a 3-year program that provides salaried professionals and psychosocial support to all the children at the hospital, focusing on the oncology and hematology departments.
Children with diagnosis ranging from cancer and leukemia to diabetes and sickle cell anemia have access to music classes, music therapy, art programs, counseling and family-support.
This program is spearheaded by Dr. Shad – who treated Chris’ cancer at Georgetown Hospital. Dr. Shad also leads their global pediatric cancer outreach with programs in Ethiopia and Pakistan.

Community Building Through Art Event in Washington, DC
Collaboration with Everybody Can Paint
Barry Farms Mural Activity
-
Loops hosted a community arts collaboration event, an arts project where you can paint, enjoy, and learn about Barry Farms and its community.
Barry Farms is a neighborhood in Southeast Washington, D.C., located east of the Anacostia River and bounded by the Southeast Freeway to the northwest, Suitland Parkway to the northeast and east, and St. Elizabeths Hospital to the south. The neighborhood was renowned as a significant post-Civil-War settlement of free Blacks and freed slaves established by the Freedmen's Bureau. The conditions of the public housing units faced increased scrutiny into the 2000s and the District developed a plan to transform the site into a mix of townhouses, market-rate apartments and replacement public housing units for low-income tenants through the New Communities Initiative.
But the demolition and proposed construction have been the source of intense battles over historic preservation and displacement in the rapidly gentrifying District.

This community art festival was created by Loops Foundation to reduce violence interruptions and ease rising tensions. Through connecting leaders and influential peacemakers in the local communities, this project allowed for communication in a safe space environment.
Richard Art Felix created the EveryBodyCan Paint (EBCP) Participation Zone with the purpose of nurturing communities through art.
Jimmie’s CourT
MCN Build and Loops Foundation recently partnered with Manpower DC to transform an abandoned outdoor space into a brand new basketball court for the surrounding Congress Heights and Robinson Place community.
Last week we constructed the court, and on Saturday, 500 people stopped by the “Back to School Peace Jam” for basketball, food, back-to-school supplies, and more.
