Saving The School Year for Lebanon
In 2022, the MCN Build & the Chris ‘Loops’ Seikaly foundations provided tuition assistance to over 5,000 students, and retention bonuses for over 300 teachers across Lebanon.
As the current economic crisis stifles schools and institutions in the country, over half a million students are at risk of losing their education this year. We selected schools throughout Lebanon in dire need of tuition assistance and debt forgiveness.
With support from our partners, the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) and Education & Opportunities for Lebanon (EOL), our assistance went directly to the schools in "fresh" US dollars, ensuring that families, schools, and teachers receive this necessary support.
As the financial and educational systems continue to crumble across Lebanon, help from the diaspora is essential at this time.
Loops Center for Special Education in Saida, Lebanon
-
The Director of Garden City School in the village of Saida reached out to Edgar Seikaly, Chris’s Uncle, who also works for the UN and UNICEF specializing in building schools. The Director asked for support building a special education school in Saida where there are currently no special education programs. Saida is also where Jesus performed his first miracle. The UN and Unicef were unable to take on the project because these organizations only work with public schools. So, Loops Foundation stepped in to champion this project!
